Mari Bermain Rasa: Let’s Play with Feelings
by: design milk, 2014-04-04 19:00:56 UTC

Many of us create when trying to sort out feelings and emotions. Ivan Christianto, a designer from Indonesia, is no different. In his case, Christianto created Mari Bermain Rasa, which literally translates to “Let’s Play with Feelings.” He turned the pieces of his emotional journey into the creation of these three pieces.

Bosen is made from discarded plywood and pine wood that Christianto picked up during long walks. Inspired by boredom, it’s 95% used materials.

Taman Bermain literally translates to ‘playground’. It was created to represent Christianto’s journey from choosing his home, his workshop, and the places where he sources his material. It had started off as a cabinet, but then turned into an installation furniture through the production process.

This Biodegradable Battery Can Melt Inside You
by: Co.Exist, 2014-04-02 19:31:00 UTC
For powering everything from medical devices to environmental sensors, these batteries leave no trace once you're done using them.
In the past, medical implants were a pretty permanent situation; if you had surgery to get something like a pacemaker, you'd have to have surgery to take it out. But in the not-so-distant future, biomedical devices may be able to harmlessly dissolve after a certain amount of time--completely changing how doctors can heal wounds, repair a broken bone, or even treat cancer. A new biodegradable battery could power the device, and then melt away.

Forget about traditional tri-blade wind turbines — the ultra-efficient turbine of the future might look completely different if Kyushu University professor Yuji Ohya has anything to say about it.
