The tub

GOOD DESIGN Award for Ben in Bad! from The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art design and Urban Studies.

Lambrechts developed ‘Ben in Bad’ (am in bath or Ben is bathing) together with Ben Steensels of Lens°Ass architecten from Hasselt, Belgium.

the bath tub follows the line of the spine and therefor needs a minimal amount of water, 95 liter instead of the average 150 liter. In the backside of the bath tub is a provision to connect the tub to the central heatingsystem so that on one hand the tub functions as a heater element and on the other hand the water in the tub stays on the right temperature so refilling to keep the water temperature up is not necessary.

The sexy shapes also includes a small reservoir behind the head to collect the water after washing hair to keep the rest of the water clean. Thus giving using the tub an haman like experience. Kids can use the walls of the tub as a slide.

The tub is made of a artificial marble casting material and coated with a polymer. At the end of its life the tub can ground to its base material and be shaped, waste-less, in the same production process.

Is this a beautiful, fun and sexy tub or what?
